Richard А. К. Ean (晏雲杉)

About my name

I'm a PhD Candidate (all but dissertation) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen's University at Kingston.

I conduct research in the area of decentralized supervisory control of discrete-event systems under the supervision of Prof. Karen Rudie. I am a member of the Queen's Discrete-Event Systems (QDES) Lab, led by Prof. Rudie, and of Ingenuity Labs Research Institute.

I obtained both of my BASc and MEng degrees in Computer Engineering from Queen's University.

I prefer to be referred to by name, rather than by personal pronouns. If you have to use a personal pronoun for me, please use he/him/his/his/himself in English and close equivalence in other languages. For languages with commonly accepted non-gender-specific personal pronouns, please use such pronoun whenever possible and whenever you see suitable. If you are writing in Chinese, please use「他」in the non-gender-specific sense, as I object to the contemporary creation of gendered pronouns in written Chinese. Above all, please let practicality dictates.
